Source Code Search engine Krugle released some fun statistics one what developers search in Java source code. It is not all j2me, hadoop and swing. For some reason developers also search for celebs, like Britney Spears and Paris Hilton.
Satan is apparently way more popular than the scandal celebrities mentioned above.
If you actually search for Britney or Paris in source code, you find code snippet marvels like this one:
if 'with Paris Hilton' in line:
final_line = final_line.replace("paris", "Paris")
final_line = final_line.replace("hilton", "Hilton").strip()
if kicked:
final_line += "n%s has appeared in a movie with Paris so it is highly likely they've got crabs.n" % actor
Krugle provides code search for developer networks including IBM Developer Works, CollabNet, SourceForge.net, and Yahoo! Developer Network. In addition, Krugle hosts a free code search service, with over 2 billion lines of open source code from over 500 code repositories.
