Today Target is offering a Sony PS3 with a free $40 Gift Card according to Punch Jump - better than nothing. The PS3 Gift Card offer is only valid in Target Stores.

Capcom Store to launch at Sony Playstation Store alongside Age of Booty for PS3

The Sony Playstation Store will get a Capcom games store this week on Thursday.
The Capcom store front launches with the release of Capcom's Age of Booty. Age of Booty is a casual real-time multiplayer strategy game that puts players at the helm of their own pirate ship with the goal of sending your enemies to the briny deep, and looting and capturing towns for your pirate faction.

The Capcom Playstation Store section offers all content available for Capcom games including full game content, demo and promotional items like themes, wallpapers, and more. Read more

Over the weekend you could score a Sony PS3 with free $100 gift card at Wal-mart stores. Today Amazon is pushing a new Blu-ray deal where you get 2 free Blu-ray movies with the purchase of a Sony PS3 console.
The Wal-mart deal sure was better, but you would have to leave bed on the weekend to get it. Read more

80GB Sony PS3 with $100 Gift Card this Saturday at Wal-mart

Sony said they would not cut the price of the Sony PS3 console this holiday. Sony upped the HDD to 80GB for the PS3 and kept the $399.99 price point that it had before. You have to rely on retailers to make you a deal on the new 80GB Sony PS3.
In October Wal-mart had a deal for the PS3 that bundled in a $75 gift card. This Saturday you can get a Sony PS3 with a $100 Gift Card in Wal-mart stores only.
Stores open at 8am and there are a minimum of 4 systems per store available. More details on Wal-mart.

Resistance 2 for PS3 Launches

Sony announced the launch of Resistance 2 this week and the game is sure to be one of the hottest titles for the PS3 this holiday season. The game is the fourth PS3 exclusive title developed by Insomniac Games. The game offers eight player, class based online play and 60-player online multiplayer combat.

The game takes place across much of the country from the shores of San Francisco to downtown Chicago in an alternate reality of America in 1953. Players fight for the survival of humankind against the Chimera. Read more

Sony PS3 Firmware 2.52 announced

Sony announced a new firmware release for the Sony PS3. The firmware 2.52 is a minor update for the PS3.
Firmware 2.52 improves the playback quality of some PS3 format software.

Additionally the new software update 2.52 for the PS3 fixes a text entry issue that occurs when using the on-screen keyboard, USB keyboard or Bluetooth keyboard with some PS3 format software. Read more

Sony unveils Shoot! Short Films on PS3 and PSP

Sony announced a new initiative called Shoot!. Shoot! will deliver series of short films that will be free to download from 13th November via PlayStation Network for PS3 or PSP, allowing you to watch cutting-edge film from up-and-coming directors and experience this unique content. The films will also be screened across Europe on ShortsTV from January 2009.

Sony got six of Hollywood’s award winning filmmakers Armendariz, Bruckheimer, Kounen, Rothermund, Vinterberg, Winterbottom to work with emerging film directors from their own country for Shoot!.
The emerging directors created a short film, shot in High Definition, based on an open brief, shaped only by one of a number of words that capture the essence of PlayStation: Play, Create, Share, Connect, Discover and Challenge. Read more

LittleBigPlanet on PS3 has Online Service Issues

If you have LittleBigPlanet you most likely are aware of issues with the online part of LBP. Sony informs on their LittleBigPlanet site that the LittleBigPlanet Servers have experienced significant problems throughout the past 24 hours affecting online game play.

Sony is trying to fix the issues and says the service is supposed to be working again shortly. Read more

Dell just announced a new coupon giving you 15% off on Electronics in the Dell Home store. I just tried to apply the coupon on the PS3 console and it worked. I would get it for only $339.99 ($60 off).

2K Games Now Shipping BioShock for the PS3

All the bugs in the initial PC version of the game aside, BioShock was a fantastic game with a great story line on the PC. 2K Games has announced that the PS3 version of BioShock is now shipping. The PS3 version of the game contains new content that augments and extends the game beyond the PC and Xbox versions.

New content will be available for download shortly after the game launches and a free demo is available on the PlayStation Network for download now. Bioshock will be available to purchase on the PS3 on October 21st (today) and is available worldwide. Read more

Sony delays LittleBigPlanet for PS3

The highly anticipated new Sony PS3 game LittleBigPlanet gets pushed back to a release in the U.S. in the week of October 27th.
The reasons for the last minute delay are two expressions from the Qur’an found in the lyrics of a song that is part of the Soundtrack. I assume Sony has to press all discs again before they can ship out the game.

Alone in the Dark: Inferno Hits PS3 in November

A new installment in the Alone in the Dark Franchise is set to hit the PS3 in November. The game is called Alone in the Dark: Inferno and puts players in the shoes of paranormal investigator Edward Carnby over the course of a night in Central Park.

The game gives players 360-degree camera control, fine-tuned controls, more accessible inventory system, and on-screen tips that help players adapt to controls. The game includes an exclusive new sequence in Episode 6 and 59th Street level tuning is tweaked. Read more

Sony PS3 will see no Price Cut for Christmas says Sony

Sony's CEO smashes hopes that Sony would lower the price of the Sony PS3 console in time for the Holidays. Kazuo Hirai told the Financial Times that the current PS3 pricing is the one that Sony will go into the Holiday shopping season.
Sony is arguing that the Sony PS3 is a better value than rivals half its price.

We already reported last week that besides consumers also industry analysts would like to see a price drop amidst the much lower pricing of the Xbox 360 and the economic uncertainties. Read more
